Chicago Food? That literally could mean anything! BUT... IMO, "Chicago Food" especially means deep dish pizza, Chicago dogs, Chicken Vesuvio, and ITALIAN BEEF SANDWICHES! It means a few other things too, but these top my personal list. Chicago Post Cafe does at least two of these items very well. Today, I had the Italian Beef Sandwich with hot peppers and marinade on the side. Although hard to eat (the damned things falls apart too easily), it was fantastic. I've had more than a few of these, in Chicago none the less, and this version is honestly one of the best. It's better than Portillo's, and almost as good as Johnie's. Choose your peppers...hot, mild, and/or sweet! Plan to use your fingers to get what falls off the roll, because you won't want to waste a single morsel. Drink the marinade/dip while you're at it. The menu is pretty extensive, and breakfast seems to be featured. I saw another customer's plate, and her bacon, eggs, and pancake looked incredible. The place is small and a little tight, but you can eat in-house. Only one table seats more than 2. Service was fast and friendly. Very friendly. Yeah, I am remiss. I really should be eating here more often. Strictly breakfast and lunch. 5 stars for now.

OMG amazing I got the Double Cheese Burger meal very good the garlic and Cajun fries are amazing as well definitely a must hit! Staff is great as well

I think I'd rather pick up breakfast or lunch carryout here rather than dining in, although I must say that the staff members inside are extremely hospitable- which earned them an extra star! The unavoidable fact is that this is a tiny place with limited seating, so that leaves patrons with perhaps eight tables (and accompanying chairs)...I could be off in my estimate but not by much.Keep in mind that there are only a few tables accommodating four or more parties. If you have visions of lounging in booths with someone refilling your coffee, this is not your place. In fact, if you need a drink refill, you're best off walking a couple of feet to the counter- same as if you need anything else. Still, I must say that the hospitality here is top notch. Every staff member was super friendly! Let's get to the food... My sister in law ordered pancakes with fresh fruit topping that looked amazingly delicious! She asked for whipped cream (not sure why it wasn't offered) and it looked scrumptious! My nephew ordered a parfait that also looked delicious with lots of fruit and granola. Think I missed the mark here in ordering a Turkey Reuben with fries. It was definitely no slouch but I've had much better with thicker bread, thicker turkey (not thin deli sliced) with hearty portions of Swiss Cheese and sauerkraut. (I am particular about my Reubens.) The fries however were definitely fresh and tasty though a bit more greasy than I prefer. Also, the unsweetened Arnold Palmer with lemon was way too sweet on something. Overall, definitely a place to check out if you're on the run and prefer drive-thru or if you simply want to grab a quick breakfast or lunch inside if not too busy. Can't speak to their coffee since we dined closer to lunchtime. I'm sure it has a great reputation for a reason!

Fast, fresh, delicious food and drinks! Very friendly staff. Clean restaurant. Highly recommended the refresher drinks!

Such a great first time experience. Greeted as soon as we came in the door and told where to find menus and order. We got the chili dog lunch with Cajun fries, came with 2 hotdogs which we was a nice surprise. Also ordered a Chicago dog meal with garlic fries. So good. Kids cheeseburger meal was good and the kids chicken meal was nice pieces of chicken, not pressed chicken. And the pineapple Agua Fresca was superb!!!

Oh my goodness I just found my new favorite spot! First timer today and I got the blt breakfast sandwich with home fry's and onions with a hazelnut ice coffee and it was all so fresh and tasty also talk about a bang for you buck here quality portions and great service as well!

This business is a little peace of gold. They offer a nice selection of breakfast items and their selection of sandwiches are all home made. They also offer different styles of regional hot dogs which are very good. I have never been dissatisfied what ever I have ordered. The business is clean with portion size and pricing are fair. You can tell a true chef owns this little gem. They do a lot of take out because seating is very (only drawback) limited.

There are no other local place you can get legit Chicago dogs or Italian beef sandwiches but CPC, granted, they offer so much more than that. I had seen the place open while I was still commuting to work before the pandemic, but never really had an inclination to try them, with an assumption they were more a quick-grab breakfast place. It wasn't until I was craving a good Italian beef sub that I did a quick search and found them. So I've tried a few different Italian beef places out in Chicago. Except for the original Johnnie's, most others cannot seem to get the beef marinate right. More often than not, your beef will not be cooked with time and care to have its meat odor taken out completely. If I set the original J's as my bar, I think CPC comes in at close second. The only super minor gripe I have is the fact that they only offer hot and mild peppers instead of sweet pepper. Super nit-picking, but there's a tiny bit of difference. LOL Last time I went, I ended up trying their cheeseburger and it was fine. I'm making it sort of my mission to try different things on their menu. I'm also alternating my drink choices each time, too. So far all the agua frescas are excellent, too. I also want to try their breakfasts, too, but I'd have to go out of my ways to do that in the morning so we'll see..

All pretty good here for honey syrup in Americano and an avocado toast. This was near and convenient during my morning circle. Just right for while.

Excellent. I'm only taking a star away because I just don't care for the chicken noodle soup. I have ordered to go and for delivery. How bout no delivery fee, no extra service charge fees?. I'm sure it won't last but it is refreshing in the days of doordash and grubhub fees Staff is friendly and provide good service. I usually get the breakfast sandwich with apple wood bacon(Real bacon!!) With a hash brown and some kind of donut. All fresh and so much better than fast food. The lunch offerings are primarily sandwiches and soups. Burgers, chicken salad etc. At least 5 different soups daily. All yummy except the chicken noodle just doesn't do it for me. Not enough noodles for me. They actually specialize in chicago style dogs. Not my thing but my man says they are really good. Somehow my food delivery arrives hot and fresh even though I live across town. Keep up the good work
